I have been a Die-Hard Dolphin fan for 30 years. Fans like you make me sick to my stomach. I wish you either go to NY and become a Jets fan or crawl back under the rock you slithered out from under.

I’ve spent eight (that’s 8 - for those like you who can not read) years in the Marines and I’ve been in 1 war, 4 total foreign conflicts. I was a leader of Marines in both war and peace. Never in my life, times or travels (which include 23 countries), have I encountered so many weak-mined fools, until fans such as yourself seem to rear their sorry heads.

I mean – you’re probably one of the guys who was trying to run Don Shula out of town to get Jimmy Johnson. Then when Jimmy was having problems, you wanted to run him out of town too… It wouldn’t surprise if you were one of the same idiots who were also trying to lead the Trade Dan Marino cheer for all those years. People like you are a waste.

The problems the Dolphins have had in December have been ongoing for over 10 years. That goes back to the Don Shula era.

- 1992 Season Dolphins host AFC Championship in Miami and get plowed by the Bills – give up over 300 yds rushing.
- 1994 Div Playoffs @ SD, have a 13 – 7 lead @ halftime – give up a 19 play drive capped by a TD run by Natrone Means consuming 13:45 of the game clock to open the 3rd Qtr.

- Playoff and December late season swoons/collapses/etc under Jimmy Johnson and Dave Wannstedt are well publicized and not worthy of listing here.

But shortsighted, small-minded, ‘what-have-you-done-for-me-lately’, types such as you seem somehow to conveniently forget about these facts.

- Was it Wanns’ fault that Derrick Rogers (7 year veteran LB, 31 years old) gave up a 33 yard pass to a back-up RB in OT @ NE with the game on the line when he was in perfect position to make a play, but turned away from the ball after seeing which way it was coming?

- Was it Wanns’ fault that Olindo Mare missed a 47 yd FG in regulation of that game, then kicked the ball out of bounds to start off the OT period @ NE week # 17 (game # 16)?

- Was it Wanns’ fault that Jay Fiedler’s thumb was broken in week 6 @ Denver (which caused him to miss 6 games), during their win?

- Was it Wanns’ fault that Oronde Gadsden went out for the rest of the season after that game?
- Was it Wanns’ fault that Chris Chambers suffered a concussion during that game?
- Was it Wanns’ fault that Cris Carter did nothing to help the team win?
- Was it Wanns’ fault that Cris Carter dropped a sure TD catch in the end zone @ Minnesota in week #16 (game # 15)?

- Was it Wanns’ fault that Ray Lucas (who for some reason most of the fans wanted to be playing ahead of Fiedler) committed 6 turnovers in his first start vs Buff?

- Was it Wanns’ fault the Offense only avg’d 16 ppg under Ray Lucas during a 2- 4 stretch, after an avg of 31 ppg during the first 6 games under Jay Fiedler?

First of all you must be some kind of a moron. I have never seen a coach take so much heat b/c he has a team filled with so many overrated / underachieving players namely:

– * Brock Marion, who made the pro bowl on reputation, not ability
– * Derrick Rogers – who was never really that good anyway, & @ 31 isn’t gonna get any better
– Jamar Fletcher – who will probably have a great year in 2003 maybe 2004, but unfortunately it probably won’t be with Miami (see RW McQuarters first 4 yrs in the NFL, 1st Rd Draft pick of SF 49ers, cut after 2 horrendous seasons, now a Chi Bears starter, look @ what he did in 2001)

– * Arturo Freeman – who was playing be default, b/c there was nobody better.
– * Olindo Mare - who by his own admission had an absolutely terrible season by his own standards,.
– * Mark Royals – who until the last 3 games games (when he choked), was having a fine season
– Cris Carter – who won’t be back with the team in 2003, not so much b/c he can’t play, but selfishness isn’t going to get it done.

I think there is a core of incredible talent on this team, maybe 8 players between both sides of the ball that could start on nearly any other team in the league. 4 on Offense, 4 on Defense. The problem is not these players, it is the drop-off in talent / ability / desire / heart (take your pick), with the guys that surround these players. These other players don’t seem to be able to pick up their games at all when called upon. I mean the Dolphins no longer have a Jim Jensen, a Nat Moore, or a Tony Nathan. Role Players who pick up the level of their game, when needed.

Is that Wanns fault – NO. Look at what he has done to upgrade the personnel on this team:

Draft Picks

Todd Wade – Solid at RT
Deon Dyer – Excellent blocking machine @ FB
Arturo Freeman – gets a reprieve after 1st year as a starter, when good is very good, but when he is bad, well you know the rest
Chris Chambers – we know what he can do, he knows what he can do, he just has to do it
Travis Minor – good second half of the season, should do even more in 2003
Morlon Greenwood – we’ll find out what kind of a player he is in 2003
Seth McKinney – Played well at OG in Jamie Nails absence, will play center
Randy McMichael – hit the infamous rookie wall in second half of season, should be more productive in 2003
Omare Lowe – had injury plagued training camp which set him way behind, wait & see

Leonard Henry – I’ve seen him play against top 25 teams while he was at ECU – the kid’s good, but he needs playing time

Trades / FA’s

Jay Fiedler - who will never be loved by Dolphin Fans b/c he’s not Dan Marino (despite posting a

29 -13 record in 3 yrs as the starter w/ eight 4th QTR come from behind victories during the pat 2 seasons)
Jamie Nails - probably be in the Pro Bowl next year
Todd Perry - had a very good second year with the team
James McKnight – played well when given opportunities
Desmond Clark – should have a big year in 2003

Ricky Williams – I was originally against this trade, I’m glad I was wrong Wanns traded for this guy, Wanns went out and

got him, his numbers speak for themselves

Adewale Ongunleye – I guess that it is easy to forget this guy had 9.5 sacks in his first year as a starter

Larry Chester - probably the most underappreciated guy in a Dolphin uniform this past season

(@ least the ignorant masses hated Fiedler)

We still don’t know what Wanns’ will end up with this year from the FA market or through the draft. Maybe:

· Roosevelt Colvin, OLB – Chi
· Tebucky Jones, SS – NE
· Wayne Gandy, LT – Pitt
· Mo Collins, G – Oak
· Kevin Dyson, WR – Tenn
· David Boston, WR – Ari

These are just a few realistic possibilities that are available for the Phins b/c:

a. Wanns’ has been very smart with the mgmt of the salary cap
b. These players fit the more glaring needs on this team

Now I know this is a lot for someone of your obviously limited intellect (I say that based on this heap of crap

of a website you created) to absorb all at once. So, sit back, reflect and use the brain that God gave for

something other than a play-thing. If and when you do this, you’ll come to realize the truth:

1. This is not Wanns’ fault (he is partially to blame – but not justified in losing his job)
2. There is not a better option of a head coach currently available
3. I know everyone had this whole love-affair thing with “The Big Tuna”, and a few other select names. Parcells

as well as these others despite having the ‘aggressive, hard-ass, disciplinarian’ coaching style, hasn’t won a

damned thing with the Pats or the Jets (in fact he hasn’t won anything w/o Lawrence Taylor) – huh, how

‘bout that?

4. This team was close to being where it needed to be last year, I believe this year they’ll get over the hump, if

for no other reason than their due.
